SUBJECT: MOCK/PRACTICE EXAMINATIONS FOR GRADE 4 AND GRADE 6.

Dear Colleagues:
In an effort to provide additional support to principals, teachers and students in the preparation for the Grade Four Numeracy and Literacy and Grade Six Achievement Tests the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI) is expanding the administration of National Practice Examinations. The purpose of this strategy is twofold: –
–To provide data to support the development and implementation of interventions and inform the MoEYI of schools and students which will need additional support.
–To provide practical support for students in the process of preparing to sit the respective examinations.
The dates for the practice examinations, approach to marking and timelines for submission are noted below: –

Language Arts
Principals will be required to ensure that the multiple choice components of both the Practice/Mock Examinations are marked by their teachers using the Answer Keys which will be provided through the Regional Offices. This task must

Arrangements will be made in each region for the facilitation of table marking sessions for the marking of the writing Task. These details will be communicated to schools through their Regional Offices.
Final reports are to be submitted to the respective Regional Coordinators within one week of completing the table marking exercise.
Mathematics/Numeracy
Upon the successful administration of the GSAT and Grade 4 NUMERACY Mock/ Practice Tests, your school will be required to prepare students’ responses for scoring and analysis. To do this, you will be asked to use templates attached to this bulletin to enter each student’s response to each item on the test. Teachers are NOT TO SCORE STUDENTS’ SCRIPTS.
The populated spreadsheets are to be submitted VIA EMAIL to the respective Mathematics Regional Coordinators by the following deadlines: –
Grade 6 – Thursday, January 26, 2017 Grade 4 – Friday, February 3, 2017

Science and Social Studies
Principals will be required to ensure that Mock/Practice Examination papers for the GSAT Science and Social Studies are marked by their teachers using the Answer Keys which will be provided. Results are to be submitted to the Core Curriculum Unit through the Regional Offices by Friday, January 26, 2017
Kindly take that the rubric for each subject will be available from the Regional Office and we encourage our school administrators to make every effort to follow the details outlined in this bulletin and but things in place to ensure that you meet the deadlines stated.
